In an article I wrote last week, I shared with you a list of states from across America that passed laws restricting our constitutional gun rights; many of them taking effect on January 1, 2016.
I also shared how Obama would be issuing a series of dictatorial executive orders to do the same thing on the federal level. And while the unconstitutional details are still being developed, Obama took the time to lay out his plan with his friends in the media; although his comments sounded more like a legal defense for the inevitable court challenges to come.
Insisting that his planned executive actions on gun control are “entirely consistent” with the Constitution, Obama said:
“I’m also confident that the recommendations that are being made by my team here are ones that are entirely consistent with the Second Amendment and people’s lawful right to bear arms.”
Following an emotion-based admission that his E.O. won’t stop gun violence but should still be issued because it has the “potential” to save lives—too bad he doesn’t feel that way about Planned Parenthood’s barbaric butchery of unborn babies—he continued:
“The good news is … these are not only recommendations that are well within my legal authority and the executive branch, but they’re also ones that the overwhelming majority of the American people, including gun owners.”
Beside the fact that our constitutional rights aren’t subject to the whims of the latest polls, Obama once again resorted to using ambiguous data that can’t be proven because he doesn’t have facts.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had this to say about Obama’s proposals:
“While we don’t yet know the details of the plan, the president is at minimum subverting the legislative branch, and potentially overturning its will. This is a dangerous level of executive overreach, and the country will not stand for it.”
Sadly, while the country may indeed refuse to accept it, Ryan is a spineless excuse for House leader who won’t do anything to stop it. Heck, he’ll probably fund it.
In the piece I mentioned above, I concluded my thoughts on the threat to our gun rights by asking you to consider making a New Year’s resolution to hook up with the NRA or some other pro-gun organization. But I think we need to do more.

Obama may or may not be successful with his latest assault on our constitutional rights, but one thing is abundantly clear: it’s probably never been more important to own a firearm than right now.
