Civics Secures Democracy Act: Joe Biden’s plan to federalize Critical Race Theory
Congress recently reintroduced the Civics Secures Democracy Act, a bill that creates a de facto national curriculum in the areas of history and civics that federalizes teaching Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Action Civics in every K-12 classroom in America.
The lack of civics in our society is obvious; it has resulted in an environment where public schools produce students who are ignorant about American history and government and lack strong civic skills. This has led to an explosion of “woke” college students opposed to free speech and the open exchange of ideas, who support disinviting speakers they don’t agree with, and who willingly use violence to silence them.
Despite the obvious need for civics training, the misleadingly named Civics Secures Democracy Act has little to do with civics and everything to do with the federal government’s plan to force Critical Race Theory on the states (via National Review):
The misleadingly named “Civics Secures Democracy Act” (CSDA) — just now reintroduced in Congress — will allow the Biden administration to push Critical Race Theory (CRT) on every public school in the country. Over a six-year period, this $6 billion pot of competitive grant money will create a de facto national curriculum — just like Common Core. States desperate to tap into the federal gravy train will have to tailor their civics and history grant proposals to the Biden administration’s liking.
It doesn’t matter that federal law and the bill itself disclaim the authority to formally impose a curriculum on the states. The strings that Biden’s bureaucrats will attach to these massive federal grants will suffice to lure states into adopting CRT. The left-leaning bureaucrats who staff education departments even in red states already favor CRT (those bureaucrats will write the grant applications and divvy up the money). And Biden long ago signaled his intention to prioritize applications that promise CRT. (Emphasis mine)
As mentioned in excerpt above, Joe Biden made his intentions known last year when he announced a plan to indoctrinate children into anti-white racism using the 1619 Project, CRT, and the so-called anti-racism teachings of critical race Theorist Ibram X. Kendi as a model.
By the way, Kendi teaches that the only cure for racism is anti-white racism:
“The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.”
To accomplish this goal, Biden’s Department of Education released a set of rules that we were told addressed the need for improving instruction in American history and civics. Instead, the rules established a priority system where grants were made available for “projects that incorporate racially, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse perspectives.”
The rule specifically cited the New York Times’ “landmark” 1619 Project and the work of Kendi as shining examples of what was needed.
Unfortunately, the reintroduction of the Civics Secures Democracy Act is being co-sponsored by “conservative” Republicans, including Senators John Cornyn (R-TX), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), and Bill Cassidy (R-LA). In the House, the legislation is supported by Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK).
For those of you unfamiliar with Action Civics, it’s a euphemistic term used to describe political activism for course credit. This is the exact opposite of what a civics course should be designed to do, and it’s another reason why the “Civics Secures Democracy Act” is so grossly misnamed.
In the National Review article quoted above, we also learn about the Obama/Biden connection to the Civics Secures Democracy Act and the Republican Party’s support of Critical Race Theory and Action Civics:
The Obama administration pushed the K–12 Common Core on states, but the founders of Common Core made a calculated decision to omit the controversial subjects of history and civics from that effort. They understood the dangers of mixing education policy with high-intensity culture war issues.
Now, however, in an attempt to complete the creation of a de facto national curriculum, the top supporters of Common Core (including, sad to say, a few conservatives) have formed an alliance with the top national advocates of Action Civics and Critical Race Theory. The result is what we see in the “Civics Secures Democracy Act” — and what we’re likely to get very soon from the Biden administration — a de facto national curriculum in Action Civics and Critical Race Theory. In this day and age of ignorance and indifference about American history and the absence of civics, most people simply line up behind the party or personality they agree with — truth and facts be damned. This is why those on the far-left are in the Biden/Democrat camp where parents are classified as domestic terrorists for opposing the teaching of CRT and Marxism in public schools while so-called conservatives are in the nationalist/Republican camp where Marxist ideals are rebranded with an “R” attached.
Critical Race Theory has its roots in Marxism, which explains why it’s been embraced by Black Lives Matter — BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullers admits that she and her fellow organizers are “trained Marxists.”
CRT served as the motivation behind the death and destruction we witnessed during the summer’s riots in 2020. It’s also serves as the fuel behind the government-sanctioned, taxpayer-financed, anti-white racism reparations movement picking up steam at the hands of anti-white racists like Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee, Black Lives Matter, and Biden’s ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
Critical Race Theory rewrites U.S. history to paint a picture of America as a land rooted in race-based slavery and oppression, and where capitalism needs to be replaced with Marxism in order to create “a more just economy.”
Thus, making the Civics Secures Democracy Act a perfect fit for Joe Biden’s plan to indoctrinate children into Marxism and anti-white racism via the creation of a national curriculum that federalizes teaching Critical Race Theory and Action Civics in every K-12 classroom in America.
