Donald Trump: Too much winning or too much whining?

Do you remember during the 2016 primary campaign when Donald Trump made this promise to the American people?

“But you are going to be so proud of your country because we’re gonna turn it around and we’re gonna start winning again . . . and we’re gonna win so much you may even get tired of winning and you’ll say, ‘Please, please, it’s too much winning! We can’t take it anymore! Mr. President, it’s too much.”

That was quite a speech, wasn’t it? But I think I’ve detected a problem. I don’t know if it was Trump’s speech writer or the fact that he was ad-libbing, but I believe the use of the words “win” and “winning” were in error. I believe he meant to use the words “whine” and “whining.”

For example, from the beginning of his campaign until now, Trump has been whining about “fake news” whenever the media publishes something unfavorable and doesn’t feed his Narcissistic Personality Disorder. In fact, he’s been using the phrase “fake news” for so long, I wouldn’t be surprised if he trademarked it and turned it into a line of Made in China hats and tee-shirts.

For the record, there is a difference between media bias, which should be expected if you’re a Republican—or you’re pretending to be one—and fake news. In other words, it’s not fake simply because it’s biased.

With his whining about “fake news” losing its luster, Trump is embarking on a new “not my fault” approach to dealing with those who refuse to bow at the altar of Trump.

Trump launched this new strategy in an off-script moment during his commencement speech at the US Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday.

“No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly.”

Oh well. At least he didn’t talk about global warming like Obama did when he spoke at the Academy last year.

Yesterday, following the announcement that former FBI Director Robert Mueller has been appointed by the Justice Department to be the special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russian involvement with the Trump campaign, Trump went on one of his classic Twitter rants. After complaining that “there was never a special counsel appointed” for President Obama–because the “Obama-did-it” line works for the Trump cult–Trump tweeted that this investigation is “the single greatest witch hunt of a politician of American history.”

In the end, I do agree with the “correct” version of the Trump’s campaign speech mentioned above. I’m tired of whining. Please, please, Mr. President, it’s too much whining. I can’t take it anymore.
