GOP cave on Obama’s SCOTUS nominee is now official

Elmer Davis - Cowards

When he was the minority leader of the Senate–a position he’s likely to return to in November–Mitch McConnell attempted to explain his inability to get anything done with these words:

“Today, Democrats not only have the White House, they have the Senate too. So we have to be realistic about what we can and cannot achieve, while at the same time recognizing that realism should never be confused with capitulation.”

So, Senator. What do we call it now that Republicans control the Senate?

Since the passing of Antonin Scalia, Conservatives across America have been adamant about the need for the Republican majority to do their job concerning his replacement by not allowing Obama to load the court with another liberal. And initially, Mickey indicated he would lead his fellow Republicans to do just that.

But just as he has done–or not done–throughout his pathetic career, McConnell doesn’t lead at all, often yielding control to Harry Reid. Meanwhile, the progressive wing of the party is caving. It was just yesterday that we received the news that sixteen RINOs were lining up to hold meetings with Merrick Garland, Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court.

On Tuesday, Senator Mark Kirk (IL) led the retreat with a meeting with Garland that lasted about 25 minutes. Members of his staff stated that they discussed the Constitution, but failed to say what they talked about during the other 24 minutes.

Following the meeting, Kirk called on the rest of the Sweet Sixteen–as they are being called by the White House–to hold their own meetings with the pro-abortion, anti-Second Amendment justice early enough to ensure a vote on his nomination before November. He also stated that he is now willing to consider voting for the liberal justice.

McConnell wants us to believe that the Republicans don’t capitulate to Obama. Really? Capitulation sounds like the perfect word to describe cowardly con artists who comprise the majority of the GOP.
