When Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan voluntarily relinquished the power of the purse to Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi in last week’s budget deal, it confirmed what conservatives have known for some time now; GOP promises to reign in big government are nothing but election-year lies promulgated in the name of political self-preservation.
As details of the McConnell/Schumer budget deal gradually see the light of day—Mickey and company have adopted the Nancy Pelosi rule of passing a bill before revealing what’s in it—we are discovering that the GOP’s budget treachery is worse than we thought. In short, the bill ensures that America will continue to inch its way toward Greece-like financial insolvency and financial Armageddon.
For those who would support Trump even if he committed murder on Fifth Avenue, it would be tempting to put this squarely on Congress’ shoulders, but that ignores the fact that Trump could have vetoed the bill. In fact, Trump’s budget proposal released yesterday confirms that he loves to spend money we don’t have just as much as Congress does, and his campaign promise to eliminate the national debt in 8 years was a lie as big as anything we’ve ever heard from McConnell and Ryan.
Trump proposed a budget of over $4 trillion for next year that projects a $1 trillion-plus deficit and officially abandons any effort to balance the budget, let alone eliminate the debt anytime in the next 10 years. And those numbers don’t include the over $300 billion in new spending approved in the McConnell/Schumer deal.
By the way, you might want to postpone any spending plans you have for that extra money from the Trump tax cut. The $1.5 trillion infrastructure plan Trump included in his budget might be partially funded with a 135 percent increase in the gas tax—WINNING!
The GOP’s budget treachery goes beyond dollars and cents; it also betrays parts of the GOP platform.
In what has been referred to the most pro-life platform in history, the GOP committed itself to address abortion by defunding Planned Parenthood and ending dismemberment abortions. Under the McConnell/Schumer budget deal, government spending is set for two years and includes continued funding for Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood had a banner year after receiving over $500 million in taxpayer funds in 2017, which helped facilitate the murder of over 321,000 unborn babies. Based on last year’s success, Planned Parenthood stands to pocket over $1 billion in taxpayer money while murdering over 600,000 innocent babies in the next two years.
At the risk of sounding like a late-night infomercial . . . Wait! There’s more!
This group of lying liars have long promised to fix illegal immigration, so they are working this week on plans to grant amnesty and citizenship for up to 1.8 million DREAMers by making DACA permanent—a goal Donald Trump says is more important to Republicans than it is to Democrats.
Republicans want to fix DACA far more than the Democrats do. The Dems had all three branches of government back in 2008-2011, and they decided not to do anything about DACA. They only want to use it as a campaign issue. Vote Republican!

As I wrote yesterday, the (TEA) party’s over. Conservative values no longer drive the GOP agenda, and we need to stop playing the Washington establishment’s game of voting for the not-Democrat.
