It was just last week that I wrote about Mitch McConnell’s decision to surrender without a fight concerning the effort to defund Planned Parenthood — even after undercover videos documented that the baby-killers are harvesting body parts, sometimes using “born alive abortions” in order to give their buyers a quality product.
Well, on Monday McConnell made his position official in an interview on Kentucky station WYMT during their “Issues and Answers” program:
“The president’s made it very clear he’s not going to sign any bill that includes defunding of Planned Parenthood, so that’s another issue that awaits a new president, hopefully with a different point of view about Planned Parenthood.”
Gee, Mitch McConnell fails to do his job as he prepares for the next election. What are the odds?
In response to a viewer question about defunding the abortion mill, McConnell replied:
“We just don’t have the votes to get the outcome that we’d like. I would remind all of your viewers: the way you make a law in this country, the Congress has to pass it and the president has to sign it.”
Wow! Please tell me more, Mr. Constitution.
For the pro-life Conservatives, Senator Ted Cruz was a co-sponsor of the Senate bill to defund Planned Parenthood earlier in the August, but the vote for cloture fell short of the 60 votes necessary to end debate and proceed to a vote. But the 2016 presidential contender has committed to do everything he can to ensure a measure to defund Planned Parenthood is attached to legislation to fund the government.
He also essentially called Mitch McConnell’s approach on the defunding issue worthless.
As reported in Breitbart last week, Cruz told thousands of evangelical pastors on a conference call that, when it comes to the funding of Planned Parenthood, both Democrats and Republicans are happy with an “empty show vote” that “has no teeth and no consequence,” one that is not tied to an appropriations bill to fund the federal government.
He also made a prediction on what will happen if his defunding measure makes it to the final spending bill:
“We can expect President Obama and many of the congressional Democrats to cry loudly that if Congress uses its authority (the power of the purse), Congress will be quote ‘shutting down the government.’ That, of course, is nonsense.”
Breitbart News also interviewed For America president David Bozell, who held nothing back on McConnell’s pathetic excuse for inaction on the defunding measure in light of the videos documenting Planned Parenthood’s barbarism:
“These folks are caught on video tape eight time now, embarking on a criminal enterprise that involves cutting off the heads of children and cutting their faces off to get to their brains to sell them for money. If the Republican Party can’t stand up against that, can’t protect the American taxpayer against funding that, they are of no use to us.”
As McConnell wrapped up his TV interview, he gave us a glimpse of his dream candidate:
“Whoever our nominee is is [sic] going to have to appeal in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Florida, Colorado, Nevada — those states that tend to go back and forth. Looking at the polling data in those key states, I think people are ready to go in a different direction. We just have to nominate somebody that they find appealing.”
Is it just me, or does his dream candidate sound a lot like John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012? And did you notice he mentioned nothing about the need for a Constitutional Conservative. Something tells me, if he did get his dream candidate, nothing would change.
In his closing statement, Mickey defended his record since last fall’s election in the only way a man who’s done nothing can:
“(I) made substantial progress in getting the Senate back to work. I’m sorry that it’s not noticed by more people, but that’s a fact.”
Oh, we’ve noticed Mickey, if by “back to work” you mean acting as a rubber stamp for Obamacare, illegal immigration, confirming radical judges, surrendering the power of the purse and etc.
McConnell has made it clear that funding the federal government is his top priority when he returns to Washington, D.C. next week; working in cooperation with the White House on a budget that would keep the government fully funded, including Planned Parenthood. Because, after all, what’s a few dead baby body parts, more or less, when there’s a chance to work with the most radically pro-abortion president in history?
Hey! Maybe Mickey can join his RINO counterpart in the House of Representatives, John Boehner, for a round of golf with Obama to seal the deaths of more unborn babies.
Oops, I mean, seal the deal.
