By now you may have heard about Colin Kaepernick, the multi-million-dollar quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers and his refusal to stand during the national anthem played before every NFL game. When questioned by media about his decision, he revealed his Black Lives Matter sympathies as he blamed it on US oppression of African-Americans and other minorities.
“I’m not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the streets and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
There are so many things wrong with this narcissistic spoiled rich kid’s BLM attitude that it’s hard to know where to start. The oppressive country he thinks exists has elected and re-elected Barack Hussein Obama, the first black president in American history. Within the Obama administration, we have Valerie Jarret as his presidential advisor, Loretta Lynch, and before her Eric Holder, as attorneys general, and Susan Rice as ambassador to the United Nations before becoming national security advisor. All are black Americans.
Interestingly enough, as you can see from the links above, every one of these “oppressed” individuals hold the same BLM beliefs that Mr. Kaepernick holds.
As if the questionable character of the overrated quarterback wasn’t reprehensible enough, the official reaction by the National Football League and the San Francisco 49ers was worse, as they embraced the BLM hysteria. NFL Spokesman, Brian McCarthy said that, “Players are encouraged but not required to stand during the national anthem” while the San Francisco 49ers all but embraced the rebel quarterback’s behavior.
“The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony. It’s an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as citizens. In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose to participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem.”
Freedom of religion? Freedom of expression? That’s rich!
Were these freedoms being honored when the Miami Dolphins and the NFL fined and suspended defensive back Don Jones when he tweeted his objection to witnessing homosexual Michael Sam lay a big, slobbery kiss on his boyfriend on national TV? Were these freedoms being honored when the NFL required Robert Griffin III (quarterback of the Washington Redskins at the time) to turn his “No Jesus, No Peace/Know Jesus, Know Peace” tee-shirt inside out during a post-game interview due to its Christian message?
Clearly, the NFL and its 32 franchises aren’t the least bit concerned about the behavior of its players . . . unless they do something politically-incorrect.
