Yesterday, I introduced you to H.R. 3134, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015 passed in the House of Representatives last week. I called this bill a “make-believe” effort to make it look like the RINOs in Washington were actually trying to do something in the name of protecting the unborn from the slaughter commonly referred to as “a woman’s right to choose.” I also predicted that once this legislation reached the U.S. Senate, it would fail under the cowardly leadership of Mitch McConnell.
Sadly, I was correct in both cases. But I also think it’s important to know how Barack Obama looked at this effort.
After the DPPA of 2015 passed the House, Obama’s mouthpiece issued an expected rebuke of any effort to defund the baby-killing, body part harvesting Planned Parenthood because—are you ready?—it would be bad for the economy:
“It certainly isn’t in the best interest of our economy, it’s not in the best interests of protecting access to healthcare for the American people.”
What a coincidence. Continuing to fund these naziesque “health providers” isn’t in the best interest of millions of unborn babies. Go figure.
Earnest also reasserted that Obama would veto any attempt to defund Planned Parenthood, even if those funds were redirected to health centers that actually provided health services, as was proposed in H.R. 3134.
“There are Planned Parenthood facilities whose very existence would be threatened by the stripping of this funding.”
Once again, an amazing coincidence. Continuing to fund PP threatens the very existence of the unborn. But wait, there’s more!
Also passed last week was H.R. 3504, the Born-Alive Abortions Survivors’ Protection Act. This piece of legislation was passed to provide protection for babies who survive the attempt by abortion providers like Planned Parenthood to end their life. But, as you would expect, Obama objected to this law too.
In a statement, the administration said Obama would veto any bill that would protect babies born alive during the abortion procedure because such a law would have a “chilling effect” and would reduce “access to care.”
Coincidence #3. Failing to provide medical care for a babies that survive their attempted murder is the denial of care as well to the baby. The irony is amazing, don’t you think?
By the way, why do we need a law to protect a survivor of abortion? I thought it was just a blob of tissue.
Obama’s objection to caring for an abortion survivor isn’t a new position. He established his pro-death credentials while still “serving” in the Illinois legislature, voting against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
As I stated yesterday, the issue concerning Planned Parenthood is no longer simply a question of funding. Sure, we need to end their funding, but we need to go beyond that to prosecuting them in a court of law for the harvesting of body parts, and their violation of existing abortion laws.
Now is the time for courage! Now is the time for showing some spine! But we aren’t going to get that from Mitch McConnell and John Boehner. They are cowards who are willing to sacrifice the unborn in order to protect their positions of power.
As I said yesterday: De-funding Planned Parenthood? How about charging them for their crimes and shutting them down?
