On Wednesday evening a tragic event occurred in Charleston, S.C. when nine innocent people were murdered in cold blood by a deranged racist at a local church. We need to continue to pray for the people who lost their lives at Emanuel AME Church, for their families and friends, and for the entire community.
With that said, I must also speak up and call out the extremist left-wing anti-gun zealots who couldn’t wait to leverage this tragedy as an opportunity to promote their political agenda, beginning with the “constitutional expert” occupying the White House.
You know, as my friends at HotAir.com so aptly stated, if given an opportunity to advise Obama before he gives an official statement on a tragedy such as this one, I would most likely inform him that any statement beginning with the words “we don’t have all the facts” should probably remain unspoken.
Heeding such advice would help him avoid the all-too-typical foot-in-mouth embarrassments he has become so famous for such as this:
“We don’t have all the facts, but we do know that once again innocent people were killed in part because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hands on a gun.
Now is the time for mourning and for healing. But let’s be clear, at some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advance countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency. And it is in our power to do something about it.
I say that recognizing the politics in this town foreclose a lot of those avenues right now. But it would be wrong for us not to acknowledge it. And at some point it’s going to be important for the American people to come to grips with it.” (emphasis mine)
This type of violence doesn’t happen in other advanced countries? Are you freakin’ kidding me? The UK saw gun violence skyrocket in the first decade of the century despite some of the toughest gun-control laws in the West. Here are a few recent examples since the first of the year that prove Obama’s was speaking in political platitudes and not facts:
- Despite extreme gun restrictions, two al-Qaeda gunmen massacred the staff at Charlie Hebdo in Paris, France, killing twelve and wounding four.
- In Copenhagen, a radical Islamist was involved in two incidents on the same day, killing one person and injuring three police officers at a free speech debate in a cafe. In the second attack, a Jewish man was killed and two police officers were wounded at a synagogue.
And don’t forget the 2011 massacre in Norway by a man who killed 92 people. He obtained his weapons legally in a nation that requires a license to own a firearm.
Obama’s politicization of this tragedy to advance his radical anti-2nd Amendment agenda is bad enough. But thanks to the RINOs in Washington, D.C., it’s about to get a lot worse now that McConnell and Company are about to give Obama the “fast track” trade authority he’s been begging for.
As I wrote back in January, fast track authority provides a “back door” opportunity for Obama to enforce the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty–which strips us of our 2nd Amendment rights–without the constitutionally required vote by Congress.
Obama is a disgrace! But he’s about to have everything he needs to take another bite out of the Constitution.
