In a January 2017 interview with David Muir on ABC, Trump was asked how he intended to deal with the so-called DREAMers (aka, illegal immigrants brought into the country as children) who would be impacted by his plan to rescind Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order. He responded:
“They are here illegally. They shouldn’t be very worried. I do have a big heart. We’re going to take care of everybody.”
When he eventually made his rescind-in-name-only announcement in September 2017, Trump gave us another indication that he had no intention of dealing with the millions of illegals in the country under DACA, choosing instead to work on ways to make DACA permanent. He gave the GOP-controlled Congress six months to do just that.
Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do). If they can't, I will revisit this issue!

A few days following this fake news DACA announcement, Trump restated his intention to do nothing about the DREAMers other than possibly using them as a bargaining chip to improve border security.
Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really!…..

…They have been in our country for many years through no fault of their own – brought in by parents at young age. Plus BIG border security

In October 2017, defacto POTUS Ivanka Trump called on Congress to “fix” DACA by granting amnesty to DREAMers, an idea Daddy Trump had proposed earlier.
In the days leading up to the 2018 midterms and facing the reality Democrats were going to win big, Trump and the GOP announced plans to work with Chuck and Nancy on ways to achieve their common goal of saving DACA.
Shortly after the new Congress was sworn in, Trump and Lindsey Graham welcomed Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to the pro-DACA team. Kushner immediately made a promise to the GOP-controlled Senate that Trump would sign any amnesty deal for DREAMers so long as it included border security funding.
This past May, Trump issued a threat to Democrats promising “harsh measures” if they failed to take action on an immigration plan authored by Kushner. Though it was supposed to be a plan designed to close “loopholes” in the immigration system, the fine print included a deal on DACA and the DREAMers.
This brings us to yesterday. As you’ve no doubt heard by now, the Supreme Court heard a challenge by the Trump administration to a lower court ruling that blocked Trump from “repealing” DACA. And you may have heard from the faux-conservative media that early indications are the court is likely to side with Trump.
Besides his documented track record proving that he has been lying all along about his immigration policies, Trump himself again made his intentions crystal clear yesterday when he tweeted that if the Supreme Court overturns DACA, “A deal will be made with Dems” to allow DREAMers to stay.
Many of the people in DACA, no longer very young, are far from “angels.” Some are very tough, hardened criminals. President Obama said he had no legal right to sign order, but would anyway. If Supreme Court remedies with overturn, a deal will be made with Dems for them to stay!

Indirectly, Trump revealed his true motivation concerning DACA in this tweet. He doesn’t want DACA destroyed; being the narcissistic dealmaker he is, he just wants it rebranded with the name “Trump” on it instead of Obama.
Trumpists of the world rejoice! Promises made, promises kept! Am I right?
