As we approach the 46 year mark of the Roe v Wade decision, life advocates have gathered in cities all across America to commemorate the Supreme Court ruling that strips life and liberty from the most vulnerable amongst us.
Year after year, March For Life participants have heard candidate after candidate march alongside them vowing to vehemently defend life. They promise to reject pro-abortion legislation and to end taxpayer funding of abortion. For 46 years, we have elected those same “pro-life” candidates to every branch of government only for them to fail us miserably. At some point, pro-lifers have to wonder about their true intentions.
On January 10, 2019, Republican Senator Roger Wicker introduced S. 109, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act. The bill would prohibit taxpayer-funded abortions.
It was brought to the floor of the Senate where Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filed cloture on the motion to proceed to the measure where it failed to be invoked by a 48-47 margin. Republicans Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski joined the Democrats to vote “Nay” and Republicans Lamar Alexander, Richard Burr, Mike Crapo, Lindsey Graham and Rand Paul failed to vote on the measure at all.
Remember, this is the same Republican-led Senate that has held the majority 23 of the last 46 years since Roe v Wade — with a majority in both Houses of Congress since 2014 and a majority in every branch of federal government since 2017. Never mind that the 1973 Supreme Court that decided Roe v Wade was a Republican nominated Supreme Court.
Also, never mind that at any point over the past 2 years, “pro-life” Republicans could have successfully defunded Planned Parenthood. Instead, they voted over half a dozen times to fully fund it to the tune of 1.5 billion taxpayer dollars. Furthermore, they failed to pass a single measure to defend the unborn. Their failures are simply INDEFENSIBLE. Mike Lee agrees.
It was only after Republicans lost their majority in the US House of Representatives that they finally introduced a bill to defund Planned Parenthood? They knew the bill never stood a chance in a Democrat controlled House. So, if they really intended to defund Planned Parenthood, you have to be asking yourself “why didn’t they introduce the bill with a full majority in both Houses of Congress?” But wait, it gets even worse.
They only reasonable explanation is that Republicans introduced the bill in the Senate thinking it would easily pass their 51 seat “pro-life” majority. Then it would move to the US House where Democrats would undoubtedly vote it down. Republicans could then blame the Democrats from atop their moral high horse while denying their own pro-life betrayals in the process. BUT, it didn’t work out for them. Republicans voted down their own Planned Parenthood defunding bill in the House of Congress where they hold the majority.
It’s utterly astounding that “pro-life” activists and “conservative” media continue to promote and defend the fake narrative that Democrats are solely responsible for the evil deeds of Planned Parenthood. That simply is NOT true. By holding Republicans blameless; they are no longer defending life. Instead they are defending Republicans. It should not need to be said that being a Republican does not make you pro-life and being pro-life does not make you a Republican. The irrefutable facts over the last 46 years have proved that.
Thousands of babies will be murdered again today in America and every hand in Washington, D.C. is soaked in their blood. Are you defending politicians or are you defending life? You can’t have it both ways.

“Unless the people, through unified action, arise and take charge of their government, they will find that their government has taken charge of them. Independence and liberty will be gone, and the general public will find itself in a condition of servitude to an aggregation of organized and selfish interest.” – Calvin Coolidge
