I tried watching some of the impeachment trial yesterday even though the outcome is a done deal, thanks to Trump’s bought-and-paid for Republican Party, a group of capitulating cowards more interested in self-preservation than protecting the Constitution and the Rule of Law.
It never ceases to amaze me how completely and unconditionally the party that gave us Ronald Reagan has sold out to a life-long Democrat. But equally amazing is how so-called conservative groups once considered a bulwark against progressives and liberals have done the same thing by adopting Trumpism as conservatism.
One of these groups has been and continues to be the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF), a group that claims to promote “conservative policies” and works to elect “conservative candidates who will stand up to the liberals in both parties. (emphasis mine)
Despite the name, SCF took steps to became an arm of the Trump propaganda machine in March last year when the group praised Trump for increasing the budget deficit and growing the size and scope of government. A few months later, former SCF president Ken Cuccinelli took it up a notch when he sold his conservative soul for a gig in Trump’s White House.
Following Cuccinelli’s departure, all doubt about the group’s Trumpism was eliminated when Executive Director Mary Vought replaced him. Vought’s background before working with SCF included a stint as press secretary of the House Republican Conference under then-Chairman Mike Pence when he was in Congress. Immediately after assuming command, she went to work endorsing (and fundraising for) Trumpist Republicans, calling them conservatives.
In a recent email, Vought offered her latest endorsement and begged for donations; true to form, she’s supporting another Trumpist “conservative.”
Fellow Conservative:
We are very proud to announce our endorsement of Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) for the open U.S. Senate seat in Wyoming.
Lummis is a conservative rancher who served four terms in Congress and was a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus along with U.S. Reps. Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows. She also served as a State Representative, State Senator, and State Treasurer.
After visiting with Lummis and consulting with a number of conservative leaders who have worked with her, we are confident that she’s the right choice to help fight for our principles and values.
Please join us in supporting Cynthia Lummis by making a generous contribution to her campaign.
Here are the things she has pledged to fight for in the Senate:
✅ Build the wall on our southern border and defund sanctuary cities
✅ Uphold the Constitution and defend the Second Amendment
✅ Fight for religious freedom and the rights of the unborn
✅ Confirm conservative judges and President Trump’s appointees
✅ Stop the socialist agenda and the “Green New Deal”
Wyoming is a Republican stronghold so the real contest in this race will be the fight for the Republican nomination on August 18th.
U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) announced this week that she will not be running for the Senate, but there are other, less conservative and less reliable candidates who will seek the nomination.
We need conservatives in Wyoming and across the nation to come together to support Cynthia Lummis in this race so we can put a principled fighter in the U.S. Senate.
Lummis will not only be a consistent vote for conservative judges and lower taxes, but she will also be a compelling voice for fiscal responsibility, economic freedom, and human life.
And as one of the founders of the House Freedom Caucus, she’s shown that she’s willing to stand up for our principles even when her party’s leaders are not.
Please support Cynthia Lummis for Senate today.
SCF will pay all processing fees and transfer 100% of your contribution directly to the Lummis for Wyoming campaign.
She has strong grassroots support throughout the state, but her biggest challenge will be raising the funds needed to win. You can help her solve that problem with a donation of $25 or more.
Thank you for being part of our team and for doing so much to fight for conservative leadership in Washington.
Sincerely,
Mary Vought
Executive Director
Senate Conservatives Fund

Where do I begin?
The House Freedom Caucus has been moving from conservatism to Trumpism ever since the 2016 election, and they completed their journey to the dark side after the GOP was annihilated by the Democrats in the 2018 midterms. Connecting Lummis to a group that sold out so badly to Trumpism that another founder, Rep. Justin Amash, had to leave it, hardly provides evidence of her conservatism.
Endorsing Lummis as a “principled fighter” … “willing to stand up for our principles even when her party’s leaders are not” is simply a lie. She’s running as a Trumpist and admits as much in several ads released since announcing her candidacy.
Lummis is such a Trumpist that after pretending to have a problem with Trump after his vulgar comments about groping women were made public in 2016, she interviewed for Secretary of the Interior twice. And in a recent interview where she was forced to defend her decision to support Trump then and now, regardless of his behavior, she said “I am looking forward to voting to [sic] his second term, and I want to be in the U.S. Senate to help him advance his agenda. Because it’s his agenda, the judges he’s nominated, and the economy he’s produced that makes him not only worthy of reelection, but resoundingly worthy of reelection.”
Being pro-Trump or never-Trump is irrelevant. What matters is how so-called conservative groups are promoting Trump’s non-conservative values as our values. Don’t fall for it!
