With Trump’s maybe we will / maybe we won’t announcement that he was pulling the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement along with the terrible terrorist attack in London dominating the news last week, two major betrayals by Trump and the GOP slipped under the radar.
First, there was Trump’s stab in the back of Israel when he reneged on his promise to relocate the US Embassy to Jerusalem. Second, there was the growing chorus of Republican voices in the Senate telling America about how there is unlikely to be a repeal of Obamacare.
Already on record that they have rejected the fake repeal of Obamacare passed in the House, the Gutless On Principle leadership in the Senate are about to walk away from repealing OR replacing Obama’s crowning achievement.
Now, let me say right up front that I support the Senate’s rejection of Trumpcare–or Obamacare 2.0 if you prefer–but not for the same reason. I reject it because it is a betrayal of the GOP promise to destroy Obamacare “root and branch.” Clearly, it doesn’t. The Senate rejects it because they want to keep Obamacare as is–at least the expensive parts–an idea supported by Trump as he stated in a recent tweet calling for more money to be spent on healthcare.
I suggest that we add more dollars to Healthcare and make it the best anywhere. ObamaCare is dead – the Republicans will do much better!

In a recent interview, Mitch McConnell began lowering expectations about repealing Obamacare, saying that he didn’t think he would be able to get the 50 votes necessary to pass anything:
“I don’t know how we get to 50 at the moment. But that’s the goal. And exactly what the composition of that (bill) is I’m not going to speculate, because it serves no purpose.”
Wow. His leadership skills are really something, aren’t they? It’s just a shame that he didn’t have several years to come up with a solution.
Right on cue, McConnell’s Minions embarked on a messaging campaign confirming the GOP’s capitulation.
In Iowa, Senator Chuck Grassley stated that healthcare won’t be “torn up by the roots in one piece,” and Senator Joni Ernst–who apparently can cut the testicles off a pig but can’t cut Obamacare because she hasn’t mastered time travel–had this to say:
“I wish that we could repeal it fully and figure out a different way forward. We’re in a world of hurt right now. I wish we could go back in time. We can’t do that. All we can do is move forward with what we have right now.”
I know how she feels. When I see how the GOP has become the party of lying liars telling lies, I wish I could go back in time and change my vote.
Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) stated flat-out that the Senate won’t be getting anything done with Obamacare in 2017, and Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) expressed his desire to move on to other issues such as tax reform, stating that it would be easier because “Obamacare is such a mess.”
On that last point, the RINO Senator from Wisconsin is correct. Obamacare is a mess, and the GOP was hired to fix it. Based on their performance so far, they’re either liars or they’re not up to the task–probably both. Faced with this reality, and with the 2018 election season about to kick off, Conservatives need to show them the door in order to hire people who will do the job we need done–such as the Federalist Party.
