So, what happens to a society when it raises children to care more about their feelings than what they need to know about life? You create a generation of hyper-sensitive “snowflakes” who believe that sticks and stones may break their bones, but offensive words and dissenting opinions cause certain death. In college, these censorious crybabies have created safe-space zones on campuses across America where they are protected from hearing things that don’t agree with their politically correct attitudes about culture and so-called values—particularly when it pertains to LGBT issues.
According to the Safe Space Network, a site moderated by a host of self-identified individuals who are pan-sexual, gender queer, and cisgendered—the politically correct way of saying you’re not transgendered—a safe space is:
“A place where anyone can relax and be able to fully express, without fear of being made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, or unsafe on account of biological sex, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, cultural background, religious affiliation, age, or physical or mental ability.”
In other words, you can’t talk about anything without hurting someone’s feelings.
This emotional over-sensitivity has been made worse in the absence of teaching the Constitution and American history, and it is quickly evolving into a serious threat to our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
And now, even the professors are chiming in.
Do you recall the riots at UC Berkeley earlier this year against former Breitbart editor, Milo Yiannopoulous, where protestors held signs that read, “Hate Speech is not Free Speech?” Well, even though he didn’t cause a riot, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro gave a speech earlier this week at the University of Florida where one of the protestors was a professor holding a sign that read, “Hate Speech Kills.”
Are you catching a theme here?
In the fall of 2016, a survey was released showing that half the college students in America approved of limits on their speech and the speech of their professors. And even more of them said that schools should monitor the speech of speakers who come to campus and ban them if their speech is considered unacceptable.
Constitution? We don’t need no stinkin’ Constitution . . . at least not when it causes a snowflake to melt.
