Yesterday I praised Ted Cruz for calling out Mitch McConnell from the Senate floor as a lying liar telling lies after Mickey attached an amendment to the highway spending bill that reauthorized the Export-Import Bank—one of the Washington Cartel’s favorite taxpayer-funded crony programs—after stating that he wouldn’t.
Well, kudos are in order once again for Ted “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” Cruz.
In a statement that mentioned “gruesome videos of senior officials of Planned Parenthood discussing the selling of body parts of unborn children,” Cruz called out McConnell once again — this time for blocking an amendment by Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) to defund the baby-killing factory:
“These videos are horrifying, and yet it saddens me greatly that the Republican leader led the effort to continue the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood,” said Cruz.
The Texas Republican took it a step further when he stated that McConnell’s leadership of the Senate was no different from his predecessor, Harry Reid:
“The McConnell-Reid leadership team has no interest in cutting off one penny of funds to Planned Parenthood, which is why leader Mitch McConnell just blocked a vote on defunding Planned Parenthood.”
Cruz then concluded as he did last week:
“To the millions of Americans who rallied in November believing if only we got a Republican majority in the Senate something would be different, this was a clarifying and a sad moment.”
As if McConnell’s lying wasn’t bad enough, he added irony to the situation. Lee’s amendment would have been attached to the Highway Bill, but Mickey called the amendment “out-of-order” because it wasn’t relevant to the Highway Bill, even though McConnell had allowed the amendment which permitted the funding of the Export-Import Bank.
We could be witnessing the rise of a movement. For example: on his Facebook page, national talk show host Mark Levin flat-out called for McConnell and his House counterpart, John Boehner, to resign immediately.
It is time for Mitch McConnell and John Boehner to resign for the good of the nation and the Republican Party. The nation and GOP are both suffering as a result of the unwillingness or inability of McConnell and Boehner to effectively defend either. Instead, these politicians are consumed with consolidating their own power on Capitol Hill and silencing opponents who dare to challenge their iron-fisted rule.
Sadly, they rarely act in the best interests of America’s future. Indeed, time and again they have delivered victory after victory for Obama and his radical agenda — from spending, borrowing, and Obamacare to illegal immigration, Iran and “trade” power. Never before has a Congress controlled by one party been so thoroughly impotent. This is due to the disastrous leadership of McConnell and Boehner.
It is time for younger, wiser, and more courageous Republican leaders — constitutional conservatives who understand the role of a statesman in perilous times — who are willing to truly lead the nation and the Republican Party based on America’s enlightened principles, advance the cause of liberty and republican government, and make the case everyday to the American people.
Ted Cruz is leading the way on calling out the failure and the lies of the Republican leadership. Whether you support him for president or not, we need to get behind him as he works to lay the foundation for new party leadership.
America simply won’t survive if we sit on the sidelines and let the business-as-usual establishment Republicans continue doing as they have.
