If you were following the happenings at Cleveland, OH, at the Republican National Convention this week, you know that the runner-up in the GOP nomination for president, Senator Ted Cruz, gave a stirring speech in the defense of liberty and constitutional conservatism on Wednesday night to cheers, but left the stage to a chorus of boos at the end because he didn’t endorse Donald Trump.
The irony of the situation is apparently missed by those who have pledged their allegiance and undying loyalty to the NY liberal. Isn’t an endorsement what the GOP establishment wanted? I thought Trump was the anti-establishment candidate. Go figure.
Still, they condemned Cruz for doing what he said he would do and what Trump and his jack-booted thug, Paul Manafort, knew he would do. They did, after all, approve the speech prior to Cruz’s appearance on stage.
So, why did Trump allow it? It wasn’t due to his good graces.
Since Trump and Manafort approved of what Cruz was going to say before he said it, it’s obvious that Trump’s ulterior motive was to use Cruz’s appearance as a way to accomplish the only goal he has for this election—feed his demented, narcissistic psyche while trying to destroy everyone who seriously tried to stop him.
With Trump’s own words taken from his book The Art of the Deal, his motivations are clear.
“When someone crosses you, my advice is ‘Get Even!’ That is not typical advice, but it is real life advice. If you do not get even, you are just a schmuck! When people wrong you, go after those people because it is a good feeling and because other people will see you doing it. I love getting even. I get screwed all the time. I go after people, and you know what? People do not play around with me as much as they do with others. They know that if they do, they are in for a big fight.”
Further evidence of his motivation was found the next day by the myriad of Trump sellouts that comprise the Trump echo chamber; Matt Drudge, Mike Huckabee, Gary Bauer, Sarah Palin and a myriad of “contributors” to the online Trump Super PAC, Breitbart.com, are just a few of the voices who declared the end of Ted Cruz’s career. By the way, the booing was orchestrated by paid Trump staff who staged the boos themselves when the right moment presented itself.
For my Christian brothers and sisters who think that Cruz failed to display Christian forgiveness for Trump’s attacks on his family when he refused to endorse Trump, the quote above from The Art of the Deal is doubly ironic. Apparently, Trump isn’t held to the same standard as Cruz.
Ted Cruz displayed character in his speech Wednesday night. He said only what he said he would say, and he defended his family, his faith, and his dedication to the America and the Constitution.
That’s exactly what Donald Trump wanted him to say, and he is trying to use that to destroy him.
