After going strong, I thought, for months and even years, I’ve come to realize that my work as The Strident Conservative isn’t going as well as I had hoped. Is it a temporary slump? Or is this perhaps God’s way of telling me that it’s time for a great reset?
I’ve been sensing for some time that things aren’t going quite right, but I always wrote these feelings off as the fallout that comes from choosing to fight the battle for liberty and conservative values in a world where the odds are overwhelmingly against me.
Lately, however, I’ve come to the realization that I’ve been spinning my wheels so fast for so long that I’ve dug a rut for myself. And that reminds me of something I once heard the late, great motivational speaker Zig Ziglar say, “A rut is a grave with the ends kicked out.”
So today, I’m announcing that it’s time for a great reset, Strident Conservative style.
I will be taking the next 2-3 months away from posting a blog on a daily basis. I will still post something when a topic warrants, but I need to redirect the energy and time it takes to write, edit, post, promote a daily article towards doing some other things I believe God has called me to do.
I have been working on a book for several years but have only been able to fit it in around my daily responsibilities on The Strident Conservative. It’s been quite a juggling act.
I’ve shared this with you in the past, but I’ve also wanted to grow my platform by creating a one-hour radio-quality podcast. My hope has been that once this podcast received enough national exposure, advertisers who agree with the Strident Conservative’s message would join in and subsidize it.
I would still like to hire someone to manage my social media along with a publicist or PR person to promote the Strident Conservative for speaking and TV/radio appearances. I would still like to make Strident Conservative bling available for purchase. I would still like to upgrade the website. I would still like to hire — and pay — a writing staff.
For a variety of reasons, all of these things have been put on the back burner . . . until now.
I need to allow the Lord to get me back to doing what I describe on the Strident Conservative Facebook page:
The Strident Conservative is a voice in the wilderness calling for a return to conservatism and the Constitution. Using just the right mixture of sarcasm and satire, our matter-of-fact approach to the issues provides a daily dose of Politically Incorrect | Always Right ™ commentary that is informative and entertaining.
Being an equal opportunity critic who holds members of every political stripe accountable in print and on-the-air, the Strident Conservative promotes conservative principles over political parties, making it a perfect fit for news and talk stations. And with our biblical world view, our work also complements Christian stations in every format.
At the heart of The Strident Conservative is a burning belief that the America envisioned by our Founding Fathers is worth fighting for. That’s why we do what we do.
To do this, the Strident Conservative — which means me — needs a great reset.
This doesn’t mean I’m going away; I’ll just be doing a little less for a while. I don’t want to remain entangled in the same old routine. Those things have passed away. I need to start over . . . NOW!
During this time, I’m asking those who support me financially to continue doing so. I’ll need your help more than ever. I’m also asking for your prayers and moral support.
Keep spreading the word about The Strident Conservative. We aren’t going-out-of-business. We’re just resetting.
The threat to liberty and conservatism in America is the worst it’s ever been in our lifetime, and I remain as committed as ever to do all I can to continue fighting for these values because I choose to do so.
Liberty or tyranny. Freedom or slavery. Surrender or revolution. The only way for us to break free of Trumpism, nationalism, and the Republican Party is by choosing to fight for conservatism.
As I concluded in a post earlier this week:
I choose to be a revolutionary who speaks truth because, as George Orwell once stated, “Speaking the truth in times of universal deceit is a revolutionary act.”
I choose to be a voice in the wilderness who calls out faux conservatives in the media for abandoning conservatism and exchanging it for political preservation.
I choose to call out the Fellowship of the Pharisees for sacrificing the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the altar of cheap grace for a seat at the table of political power.
To continue making these choices, The Strident Conservative needs a great reset. It’s the only way.
David Leach is the owner of the Strident Conservative. He holds people of every political stripe accountable for their failure to uphold conservative values, and he promotes those values instead of political parties.
