Trump and his Trumpists are equal to Obama and his Obamatrons

As I wrote yesterday, Trump’s State of the Union Tuesday night was basically a recycled version of the speech he gave in 2018 and amounted to little more that a steaming pile of the same ol’ same ol’. Same ol’ claims of accomplishing things he hasn’t accomplished. Same ol’ promises to spend money we don’t have to pay for Ivanka’s feminist socialist agenda. Same ol’ patronizing rhetoric about building a border wall, ending abortion, and fixing healthcare.

In that article, I also pointed out how Trump’s trade war and so-called tax cuts were not only failing to deliver the economic recovery he promised, they were creating a hopeless economic hell that will take years to recover from. Jobs are being lost, consumer prices are skyrocketing, the national debt is exploding, and the income tax liability for middle-class Americans have gone up, not down.

In response to yesterday’s article, my social media accounts were bombarded by Trumpists — along with a few “fake” Trumpists based on their profiles — who not only vehemently disagreed with my opinions, but peppered their objections with threats and intimidation. This isn’t much of a surprise to those of us who haven’t been assimilated by the Trump Borg, but it lends a great deal of credibility to Hillary Clinton’s claim that many Trump supporters are a “basket of deplorables.”

Doing what I do for as long as I’ve been doing it, I’m very familiar with such childish behavior. I can’t tell you the number of times I was verbally harassed and physically threatened during the Obama years from those on the left, but I continue to be amazed that I’m receiving the same kind of threats from those who claim to be on the right.

My positions haven’t changed. I still stand for the Constitution and conservative values. Always have. Always will.

While it’s easy for Trumpists and so-called conservatives to point fingers at Far-Left groups like Antifa as the ones most responsible for the death of political discourse and the rise of violence, Far-Right groups like the Proud Boys, founded by former CRTV personality Gavin McInnes, have been equally uncivil and violent.

Amazingly, in our current political environment, people who would have condemned Tuesday’s SOTU if it had been delivered word-for-word by Obama have been dancing in the streets over the Trump version. And that brings me back to the recent attacks and threats I have received from the cult-like supporters of Donald Trump.

Since Trumpists feel they need to defend the New York liberal with an “R” after his name when he lies and breaks his promises in the same manner Obamatrons defended the community organizer from Chicago when he lied and broke his promises, we can conclude that there is no discernible difference between the two groups. In both situations, party was chosen over principle and personality was chosen over performance.

That’s simply a road I refuse to travel.
