Trump attacks Rand Paul for not supporting fake-repeal of Obamacare

Earlier this week, I called out Tea Party Patriots for their political adultery as they endorsed fake-repeal v4.0 of Obamacare, co-sponsored by Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy. Just as previous so-called repeal bills have been, the Graham/Cassidy version is a Repeal-In-Name-Only piece of legislation that does nothing to fix Obamacare.

In an opinion piece on FOX News, Senator Rand Paul shows us why this is true.

For example, while much has been made about how Graham/Cassidy allows states to decide how to replace Obamacare through the use of block grants paid directly to each state, Senator Paul points out the obvious fact that this is nothing more than “a redistribution of Obamacare taxes,” and it creates “a new Republican entitlement program, funded nearly as extravagantly as Obamacare.” Addressing the cost of Graham/Cassidy, Senator Paul also points that it will also continue to put America deeper into debt as it will cost 90-95 percent of what Obamacare currently costs.

Much has also been made about how Graham/Cassidy eliminates individual and employer mandates, but Paul points out that the bill “doesn’t repeal a single Obamacare insurance regulation” and that “all of the Title I rules, the Essential Health Benefit rules … are still in place.”

By the way, these EHB rules list services that must be covered under every health care plan. In addition to crazy requirements such as maternity coverage for men, these rules are where we also find the birth control mandates that have threatened religious liberty over the past few years.

Despite claims in some conservative circles that Graham/Cassidy is good news for believers in Federalism, it actually makes states more dependent on the federal government. On the subject of government dependence, a group of GOP governors recently wrote a letter to Mitch McConnell supporting Graham/Cassidy. Why, you may ask? Because red states are some of the most dependent on the federal government.

In the piece I mentioned earlier, I noted how Donald Trump supports Graham/Cassidy, so it should come as no surprise that the Tweeter-in-Chief is now attacking Rand Paul for being a “negative force” by opposing it.

The promise to repeal Obamacare is the primary reason that the Republicans control Washington, but as we now know that promise was a lie. Graham/Cassidy is just the latest version of that lie.
