A new Gallup poll shows that Trump’s approval rating has dropped to a new low of 34 percent while his disapproval rating has reached a stratospheric 61 percent. Not only is this bad news for the New York liberal, Trump’s numbers are among the worst in US history.
Trump is at 34% approval in Gallup today and 61% disapproval. Net -27%. He's never had numbers this bad. Among the worst in US history.

While Trump’s low approval numbers are dismal–he’s only 10 points higher than Richard Nixon was before resigning following the Watergate scandal–it the 61 percent disapproval numbers that show how pathetically weak Trump has become.
For example, did you know that Jimmy Carter–considered one of the worst presidents in American history–never hit 61 percent disapproval? Neither did Bill Clinton or . . . wait for it . . . Barack Obama. In fact, only George W. Bush reached 61 percent disapproval after 1932 days in office. Trump has only been in office for 207 days.
Days to hit 61% disapproval (Gallup)
Carter: Never
Reagan: Never
H.W. Bush: Never
Clinton: Never
W. Bush: 1,932
Obama: Never
Trump: 207— Brian Klaas (@brianklaas) August 14, 2017
This is just more evidence of the destruction Trump is bringing on the GOP as the party continues to evolve into the Trumplican party. But on a bright note, Trump’s low approval numbers could serve as an opportunity for conservatives to gain some traction in the near future.
For example, today is voting day in the Alabama Republican primary to select a candidate to fill the seat vacated by Jeff Sessions’ appointment as the US Attorney General. Trump has twice endorsed a current occupant of the swamp; a favorite of Mitch McConnell, Luther Strange.
Senator Luther Strange has done a great job representing the people of the Great State of Alabama. He has my complete and total endorsement!

Luther Strange of the Great State of Alabama has my endorsement. He is strong on Border & Wall, the military, tax cuts & law enforcement.

Despite Trump’s endorsement, the conservative candidate I support, Judge Roy Moore, looks like he will take 1st Place by beating Strange along with fellow conservative, Rep. Mo Brooks (currently in 3rd Place). If Moore fails to win 50 percent of the vote, he will face Strange in a run off election.
While earlier special elections in Kansas and Georgia barely went in the GOP’s favor, this is the first to be held with Trump’s disapproval numbers this high. In addition, Trump has spent a lot of political capital over the past few months attacking Jeff Sessions. Will Trump’s endorsement actually hurt Strange and benefit Moore? Will his attacks on the popular Sessions turn people off? We’ll know soon enough.
Regardless of how the Alabama primary turns out today, Trump’s dismal job approval numbers are certain to negatively impact the GOP in next year’s election. Midterm elections are already unfavorable to the party occupying the White House, and with the GOP-controlled Congress polling worse than Trump, the writing appears to be on the wall.
