A few days ago I invited my readers and listeners to vote for me as president if they supported Donald Trump because I am a lot like him, only conservative. Now I’ve come up with another reason to vote for me: I’m just like Donald Trump, only I believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Donald Trump doesn’t believe in the Bill of Rights you ask? Not based on his comments at a campaign stop this past Friday. Speaking of the media, he said:
One of the things I’m going to do, and this is going to make it tougher for me… but one of the things I’m going to do is if I win… is I’m going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money.”
I guess that whole “Congress shall make no law” part of the First Amendment is just loser talk since Trump is all about winning; in this case, “lots of money.”
Much to my shock—that’s sarcasm for some of my new readers and listeners—the Trumpettes support The Donald because the media is corrupt and deserves to be silenced. Well, using that logic the whole Bill of Rights should be eliminated.
- There are crooked religions — so let’s drop freedom of religion
- There are people who lie — so let’s eliminate freedom of speech
- There are people who riot — so let’s ban the right to assemble
- There will always be crooked politicians — so let’s end the right to petition the government
As you can see, simply because there are those who abuse our constitutional rights is no reason to set a match to them. Which brings up another question for those who support Trump; how is his position opposing the Constitution any different from Obama’s?
Sadly, when I asked this question of my Facebook followers, all I got in return was “Trump’s not Obama” and “Hillary will be worse.” Which sounds a lot like the Obamatrons did defending Obama back in 2008.
So, once again, I invite supporters of Donald Trump to abandon him and vote for me. I’m very much like Trump, but I’m a Conservative AND I support the Constitution.
