Want to end terrorism? Burn the Constitution!

In just the latest example of how far liberals are willing to go to make the world a “safer” place, we receive word that a former cabinet member of the Jimmy Carter administration wants to eliminate certain forms of free speech.

In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program, former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski feels that the United States should reconsider whether satire should be protected free speech in light of the terrorist attack on the French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo.

“We have to take a look more closely at the nature of the so-called satire,” said Brzezinski. “I’ve not seen what I’m about to say, but I’ve been told by some people that some of the cartoons were absolutely appalling and directed at the prophet himself. Now, is that really humor or is that an insult designed to provoke?”

Besides the fact that the very nature of satire is meant to be provocative, Mr. Brzezinski’s opinion seems to indicate that there should be times when free speech is made illegal if it ends up hurting someone’s feelings. An opinion, by the way, that seems to be right in line with the thinking of several members of the mainstream media.

The New York Times has refused to publish the cartoons that Muslim extremists say was the reason behind the attack on Charlie Hebdo headquarters, and the Washington Post lists several others who joined in censoring them. In addition, they have joined hands with like-minded internet media like the Huffington Post in defending radical Islam with a “France had it coming because it so Islamophobic” approach to covering the event.

This last point is apparently something the Obama administration supports. A few days after the attacks, Breitbart reported that White House press secretary Josh Earnest announced how the Obama administration would make fighting Islamophobia a top priority of the administration. The real problem, according to the Muslim-appeaser-in-chief, is a lack of leadership in defending Islam:

“There are some individuals that are using a peaceful religion and grossly distorting it, and trying to use its tenets to inspire people around the globe to carry out acts of violence.”

Earnest went on to say that the administration plans to redouble its efforts to recruit leaders of the Muslim community to condemn any effort to radicalize individuals, and to make clear the tenets of Islam.

This from the same administration that disregards the religious rights of Christians and Jews in areas such as: healthcare, employment, homosexual marriage, and other areas. And where is the ACLU and the other “separation of church and state” loons?

*queue the chirping crickets*

It would be easy to dismiss Brzezinski’s attack on the Constitution as the rantings of a disgruntled ex-employee who worked for the man who has been referred to by many as the Worst President in History, but not so fast:

1. The man who was considered second worse just before the midterm elections is still in the White House
2. He has a long track record of disregarding the Constitution
3. He has a long track record of Muslim appeasement
4. The mainstream media is more than willing to cover for Obama and radical Islam
5. Members of both parties have expressed a desire to shut down or restrict non-mainstream media

Islamic terrorism has already been used as an excuse to take away our constitutional right against unreasonable search and seizure, and this effort to restrict free speech is gaining increasing acceptance from politicians and media alike.

We must be diligent in defending our rights while we still can!
